Now that it's officially summer in the Smokies, vacation season is in full-swing and visitors are flooding the area in a steady stream looking for fun ways to spend their time. One of our favorite summer holidays in the Smokies is Independence Day, and if you're planning to spend your 4th of July weekend in the area, our cabins for rent in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN are the perfect place for your days to begin and end. The Smoky Mountains come alive with patriotic activities during July 4th, and here are 3 awesome ways to celebrate America's birthday if you're going to be in the area:

1. Check Out the Midnight Gatlinburg Parade

If you’re planning to celebrate the 4th in the Smokies, you’ll definitely want to consider attending Gatlinburg’s one-of-a-kind parade that takes place in the downtown streets starting at midnight on Independence Day. Aptly named the First Independence Day Parade in the Nation, it begins as the clock strikes 12 a.m., but you definitely don’t want to wait until then to hit the streets. Veteran parade-goers begin setting up camp chairs in the early evening on July 3rd in order to make sure they’ll have the best view possible of the many local bands, dance crews, parade floats and service men and women that participate each year. Our cabins for rent in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN will put you in the perfect location to head out and enjoy the festivities and ensure you have plenty of time to get downtown and reserve your spot along the street!

2. Attend the 26th Annual Patriot Festival

If midnight parades are a bit past your bedtime or you have young children who may not be able to attend – have no fear, the Patriot Festival is here! The fun begins at noon on the 4th at Patriot Park, located just a short drive from many of our cabins for rent in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN. All festivities take place in a family-friendly atmosphere and include local food vendors, a kids’ Karnival, live music throughout the day and of course, fireworks! The Patriot Festival is free to attend, and you’ll want to be sure to bring blankets or lawn chairs along especially for the fireworks extravaganza, which closes out the day around 9:30 p.m.

3. Hang Out at the Pool and Grill Out

There are few things more authentically American than spending the 4th poolside and enjoying a home-cooked meal fresh from the grill with friends and family! If you’re looking for a more laid-back way to spend your holiday, hanging back and utilizing the awesome amenities that are available to you when you book our cabins for rent in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge TN is a great alternative. Many of our cabins have clubhouse pool access and nearly every cabin comes with either a charcoal or gas grill ready and waiting for your group’s grillmaster to work their magic.
