1. Arts and Crafts Community

The Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community is home to some incredibly talented painters, carpenters, textilists, jewelers, metal workers, and so much more. Many of these talented artists have been sculpting their craft for years, and learned it as a family trade. The community makes up an 8 mile loop. The Arts and Crafts loop is full of Appalachian history, and is great place to find a one of a kind souvenir or gift.

2. Salt and Pepper Museum

Want a truly unique thing to do in Gatlinburg? Visit the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum, it's the only one of its kind! They have over 20,000 sets of shakers! Any shape or form you can think of a shaker coming in you can probably find it here. You could almost find an entire orchestra worth of instruments that are shakers, there’s pac-man ghosts, frogs, fruit, and so many more! The Salt and Pepper Museum is home to the 60 Million Dollar Salt Cellar, which has its own unique story and is just waiting for you to learn about!

3. The Wild Plum Tea Room

The Wild Plum Tea Room is one of the most unique things to do in Gatlinburg. The Plum Tea Room is a quaint, cozy little place located in the Arts and Crafts Community. They only serve lunch and their menu can change day to day. You can find menu items like chicken salad, salmon burgers, yellowfin tuna, and more. Meals are freshly-prepared daily, and you won't find a more diverse menu in Gatlinburg. This is the perfect place to take your daughters for a lunch date, for bridal lunches, or small family get togethers.

4. Ride a Mountain Coaster

There's nothing quite like a mountain coaster! Mountain coasters are luge style riding cars. You will zip past and curve through local woodlands going as fast as gravity will let you. There are two mountain coasters in Gatlinburg: The Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster and The Rowdy Bear. Both coasters are open year round, and and have height requirements for children and single riders. For an even more thrilling experience, ride one of the coasters at night!

5. Bowling

Many visitors don't realize there is a bowling alley in town and that’s what makes it a fun and unique thing to do in Gatlinburg! The bowling alley is located inside of the Gatlinburg Community Center. Take an hour or two to connect with family or friends over a couple of games. See how well you do without those alley bumpers! Games during the day are typically $1.75 and shoes are are $1.25. One of the coolest add-ons to a game is asking to make a round cosmic style! If you’re wearing bright colors or pick a neon colored ball it will glow all the way down the alley!
